WHY VOLUNTEER WITH US ?

We are a local organization. AVN was founded by and employs only native Cambodians. Our office is right in the heart of Phnom Penh making it easy for us to stay in close contact with our volunteers and ensure they are having an amazing experience.

Low volunteering fee. Cambodia is a beautiful country with many issues that require the skills of international volunteers to help solve. Instead of charging large volunteering fees, we require only the bare minimum the cover our volunteers' accommodation and meal expenses. We value impact more so than profit.

Responsible volunteering. We work for responsible volunteering . We offer highly affordable volunteer programs.

Special activities. Staying in our volunteer guesthouse, you will be surrounded by other volunteers. Make new friends from all over the world and discover community together. Regularly, we organize activities for our volunteers during the weekend or on national holidays. Feel free to join us!

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

The AVN holds one day orientation session. It takes place on the first Monday of your volunteer placement term. The itinerary for the orientation including: introduction, getting around in Cambodia, Cambodian history, practical information, cultural dos and don’ts, basic Khmer language lesson, group discussions, market exploration, Lunch, mobile phone and/or sim card purchase, city tour, welcome dinner at a Khmer restaurant.

I did a two week volunteer program along with two other friends. We worked with a saving group on micro finance topics. During our time in Cambodia we had enjoyed the support of Brem and his entire team. Also we had the chance to make a lot of new friends and develop our own network.

Switzerland

After arrival AVN gave me an orientation day, where I was getting familiarized with local circumstances, culture and tradition. I had a visit to my NGO where they introduced their main projects. The goal was to help visualizing NGO research reports in video documentaries. I was doing video interviews, teaching filming technique, video editing, and animation. Besides I did a sample script that will be reusable for any future projects. In between I could learn about local problems and journalism as well.
